Chloe French Nelson once stayed inside during kindergarten recess to draw all fifty stars on the American flag. She takes assignments quite seriously, and has grown up into a children’s book illustrator and author. She works in delicate, traditional media - dip pen, watercolor, gouache and colored pencil.
Inspired by her studies in art history, and her many years as a singer-songwriter, she aims to add poetry and whimsy to the everyday. Chloe is currently working on several children’s book manuscripts. Book dummy available on request.
She spent her formative university years in Minnesota (Macalester College) and Paris, and hopped the pond to London to obtain her MA in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art. She has worked for museums (Walker Art Center, de Young) and for art galleries in London, Paris, and New York. After nearly a decade in New York City, Chloe currently lives in Berkeley, California, with her husband and several redwood trees. Chloe is in the band Tanbark.
